How to Position for New Things

Theme: New Things
Topic: How to Position for New Things
Text: Isaiah 43:19

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

INTRODUCTION

Every new season requires intentional preparation. God may be ready to do a new thing, but if we are not rightly positioned, we may miss divine opportunities.

Positioning means aligning ourselves spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and practically with the move of God. Just as the children of Israel had to leave Egypt in order to enter the Promised Land, we must be willing to shift our posture, mindset, and direction to receive God’s new things.

God’s promise of new things is certain—but our readiness determines our experience.

DEFINITION (Dictionary Style)

New Thing (ḥăḏāšâ):
A fresh, unprecedented act of God; something divinely initiated that springs forth unexpectedly. It often symbolizes redemption, renewal, restoration, and transformation beyond anything previously experienced.
(Isaiah 42:9; Isaiah 43:19; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Revelation 21:5)

WAYS TO POSITION FOR NEW THINGS

1️⃣ Let Go of the Past

📖 Isaiah 43:18

“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.”

Past failures can breed discouragement, while past successes can breed complacency. Both can hinder progress.

New seasons demand fresh focus and release. You cannot carry yesterday’s baggage into tomorrow’s breakthrough.

2️⃣ Perceive What God Is Doing

📖 Isaiah 43:19

“Shall ye not know it?”

Spiritual perception is vital. God’s new move is often subtle before it becomes visible.

Through prayer, fasting, and meditation on God’s Word, our spiritual senses are sharpened.

📖 1 Corinthians 2:9–10

The Spirit reveals the things God has prepared for us.

If you cannot perceive it, you may not participate in it.

3️⃣ Develop Faith for the Impossible

God’s new things often look humanly impossible—ways in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

📖 Hebrews 11:6

“Without faith it is impossible to please God.”

Positioning yourself means believing beyond logic, limitations, and circumstances. Faith makes room for the supernatural.

4️⃣ Walk in Obedience and Readiness to Act

Every new season comes with new instructions.

📖 Genesis 12:1–4
Abraham had to move before he could see the fulfillment.

Delayed obedience can delay manifestation. When God says move, readiness is key.

5️⃣ Renew Your Mindset

Old mindsets cannot host new seasons.

📖 Mark 2:22

“New wine must be put into new wineskins.”

📖 Romans 12:2

Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

A renewed mind creates capacity for new dimensions of God’s work.

6️⃣ Maintain an Atmosphere of Worship and Gratitude

📖 Psalm 100:4

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving…”

Thanksgiving softens the heart and prepares the ground for fresh manifestations.

Worship aligns us with heaven’s rhythm and keeps us sensitive to divine shifts.

APPLICATIONS

  • Do not allow yesterday to limit your tomorrow
  • Expect God to move in unusual places and unexpected ways
  • Stay alert, flexible, and obedient to divine instructions
  • Surround yourself with faith-filled environments and people

PRAYER POINTS

1️⃣ Lord, deliver me from every attachment to the past that hinders my new season.

2️⃣ Holy Spirit, sharpen my sensitivity to perceive what You are doing now.

3️⃣ Father, release in me the faith to embrace the impossible.

4️⃣ Lord, prepare my heart and mind for the new things You are bringing my way.

CONCLUSION

God is committed to doing new things, but positioning determines participation. When you release the past, renew your mind, walk in faith, and stay obedient, you create space for divine innovation and transformation.

🌿 Your new season is not coming—it is springing forth.
May you be rightly positioned to receive it.
